For more information contact Anita Hall at 545-8630 or ahall@weinsteinjcc.org. $275 M / $325 NM Israel Scouts Caravan Community Performance Thursday, June 25 Israeli Cafe - opens at 5:30 p.m. Israeli Caravan - performance at 7:00 p.m. Every summer since 1975, the Israel Scouts Friendship Caravan (Tzofim) has come to Richmond, bringing a taste of Israeli culture through song and dance that the whole family can enjoy. Richmond is one of the original cities to host the Israel Scouts and have been hosting long enough to see the second generation of Host Families who are willing to house the teenagers. It is such a life-changing experience to host the teens that there is a waiting list to have these vibrant and talented Israeli teenagers stay in your home. This summer, the Israel Scouts will arrive Tuesday June 23 and will be with us through Sunday. They will perform for the entire community at the Weinstein JCC on Thursday evening, June 25th at 7pm. The Israeli Café will open at 5:30 for dinner before the performance. The Caravan will also visit with and in some cases perform at Beth Sholom, 5400 Men’s Club (together with Women’s Room, Grand Group and Grand Tones), Camp Ganim, Camp Hilbert and possibly other organizations in the community. The Weinstein JCC has summer camp fun for all ages and interests. From a general recreational day camp on 110 acres in Goochland County with instructional and free swim (transportation included); a camp for preschoolers at the Weinstein JCC; and over 40 weekly specialty camps! June Specialty Camps: June 15 - 19: Water Week (Art Camp is now FULL) June 22 - 26: Kids on the Move, Kung Fu Camp, NASA: Journey into Outer Space June 29 - July 2 (4-day week): Dance Camp, Junior Chefs Camp, Maccabi Sports Challenge Camp Hilbert and Camp Ganim both begin Monday June22nd! The camp brochure is available to download off of our home page. Camps fill up fast so register now! New Youth Fitness Program! For youth ages 11 - 15 Come join your parents in the Fitness Center! This new program is required for all youth ages 11 - 15 who would like to work out in the Fitness Center with their parents. Children will be given an orientation on the fitness equipment and on appropriate stretching by a certified personal trainer. This extensive teaching process will give children a better understanding of physical exercise and how to perform it safely and correctly. So start shopping, SAVE and support your community! Recycling at the Weinstein JCC is a Success! With the efforts of our members and staff, the Weinstein JCC is excited to announce that we have cut our garbage consumption in HALF! What we used to send to the landfill as garbage is now being sent to the recycling center so that it can be re-produced and used as something else. The Weinstein JCC used to have 2 large dumpsters and now only requires 1 because of the recycling efforts. This is great news for us and our planet!
