School’s Out Days for November (back to top)
Kids’ Place opens at 7:30 a.m. on “School’s Out” days and stays open until 6:00 p.m.  The children play at the Weinstein JCC and participate in Kids’ Place programs. While here the children are kept safe, happy, busy and fulfilled.

Saturday November 7 at Oates Theater at Collegiate School
Dan Senor and Campbell Brown join us to discuss Israel, politics and their Jewish life together.  Campbell Brown is one of the most respected and recognizable faces in American news. Her husband, Dan Senor, has been a foreign policy advisor to the Bush administration and was one of the longest-serving civilians for the Coalition Provisional Authority in Iraq.  Excitingly, Senor’s newest book, Start-Up Nation: The Story of Israel’s Economic Miracle is due to be released just days before his Richmond visit.

Trek Across Israel but at the Weinstein JCC!(back to top)
November 9 – December 31
Let’s trek across Israel in 8 weeks!  All you need to do is keep track of all you fitness activities like biking, walking, running, cross-training, stepping, swimming and fitness classes. The fitness staff will be around to assist you in your journey across Israel.  For each destination reached a prize will be awarded as well as prizes once the Trek across Israel is completed. There will also be prizes for the top three travelers who accrue the most mileage. This contest is for Fitness Center Members ages 13 and up. 10th Annual Basket Extravaganza at the Weinstein JCC (back to top)
November 9 - 23
Thirteen beautiful baskets loaded with hundreds of dollars of valuable gift items and gift certificates along with Silent Auction items go on display beginning Monday, November 9 in the Richard A. Arenstein Lobby of the Weinstein JCC.  The drawings for basket winners and final silent auction bid will take place Monday, November 23.  Tickets are $2 each or 10 for $18 and you need not be present to win.  All proceeds benefit the Weinstein JCC Preschool.

A Family Concert – Groovin’ into Chanukah with Billy Jonas (back to top)

Billy Jonas’ lyrics inspire and engage both young and adult audiences. Billy’s music is percussion-based, making use of found objects (buckets, broom handles, bottles, key chains and more) as well as traditional instruments. Come join the fun as Billy will perform with his band his original music and a selection of Chanukah & Jewish songs.

Members: $4 child / $6 adult – $18 max per family of four

In honor of Shalom Aleichem’s 150th anniversary, Weinstein JCC’s Jewish Family Theatre presents: Fiddler on the Roof

Fiddler on the Roof opens Thursday December 10 and runs Thursday and Saturday evenings at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday afternoons at 2:00 p.m. through December 20. Volunteer on Super Sunday!! (back to top)
Super Sunday is the one day each year when volunteers from the Jewish community gather to make calls to offer individuals and families in our community the opportunity to help those less fortunate here at home, in Israel and around the world for the UJA Jewish Welfare Fund Campaign.  

Please help the Jewish Community Federation of Richmond reach their 2010 Campaign Goal of $3 Million.  They need YOU on Super Sunday, November 15th to lend a hand by contacting community members to speak with them about their personal commitment to the 2010 UJA Jewish Welfare Fund Campaign.  The two calling sessions will be held from: 

9:00 AM to 11:30 AM (training from 9-9:30)
11:00 AM to 1:30 PM. (training from 11-11:30) 

If you are available to volunteer on Sunday, November 15th between the hours of 9:00 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. JCFR would appreciate it. With your help they can reach their goal of $3 Million.

Monday, November 9 at 7:00 p.m. at the Virginia Holocaust MuseumKristallnacht & Beyond – a documentary by Lindsay Stone

The film follows Mr. Lebenstein on his emotional journey to liberate the part of his mind, body and soul that the Russian forces could not set free.  Speaking throughout the United States and Germany, Lebenstein continues to dedicate his life to teaching the dangers of intolerance. From the heart-wrenching images of Nazi brutality in Haltern am See to the thought-provoking scenes of German children, Kristallnacht & Beyond proves to be a film worthy of enlightening generations to come.  Free and Open to the Community.
