The First Steps Program
The First Steps Program of the Dora L. Lewis Family and Child Development Center is a full-year preschool class for children turning 2 years old between November 1 – February 28 and their parents to engage in age-appropriate activities with a teacher on Tuesdays and Thursdays. After January, when all the children are two years old, the parent does not attend, and an assistant teacher is present.
We know this will be an exciting year for your child and one of great growth. Our philosophy is based in the belief that each child is unique. We provide an environment that is rich in activities and filled opportunities for individual exploration. A warm, nurturing staff will lead your child to develop trust in adults, social relationships with other children, a broad foundation for cognitive development, and most important, a positive self-concept.
