The Sara D. November Art Gallery at the Weinstein JCC has been an important part of the Richmond art scene through its varied year-round exhibits.

Mission of the Sara D. November Art Gallery:
The Sara D. November Art Gallery is committed to expanding and enriching cultural life in Richmond by presenting the finest Jewish artists and Judaic artwork, encouraging the preservation of Jewish culture and heritage, and nurturing new creativity in the arts.

Sara D. November Art Gallery Hours
Monday – Thursday: 9:00 a.m. – 9:00 p.m.
Friday: 9:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.
Sunday: 9:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m.

Undiscovered Photographers Exhibit

The Undiscovered Photography Exhibit offers an opportunity for exhibiting to the many talented people who have not exhibited in a major show before. The Undiscovered Photography Exhibit will be held April 17 – May 12, 2008.

Dates:
April 14 Bring work/entry forms to the Weinstein JCC 9 am – 5 pm
April 17 Pick up any unselected work 9 am – 6 pm
April 17 Opening Reception & Awards Presentation 7 pm – 9 pm
May 12 Pick-up exhibited work 9 am – 4 pm
(The Weinstein JCC is not responsible for work left after these dates)

  • Eligibility
    If you have placed 1st, 2nd or 3rd in an Undiscovered Photographer Exhibit in »the past you are NOT eligible to enter. However, if you were a part of one of our Undiscovered Photographer Exhibiits in the past but did not finish in the top three you can participate, but you must submit different photographs.
  • Any photographer over age 16 whose work has not been exhibited in a major show in the Richmond area.
  • Up to three original works completed after 2004.
  • Entry Fee: Members - $10 per work. Non-members - $12 per work. This »is non-refundable fee covers handling, insurance and prizes. Although the Weinstein JCC will exercise as much care as possible, work of a fragile nature is not covered for breakage. It is accepted at the artist’s risk. All work must be framed in wooden or metal frames and ready for hanging or exhibition, including eye hooks or screw eyes attached to frames.
  • No plastic frames or plastic string brackets or clip-on frames will be accepted.
  • Name, address, phone number, and value labels that are included on the back of this brochure must be attached to the back of each item.
  • A 30% commission will be charged on all sales.
  • All photography must be submitted by April 14, 2008 in order to be selected for the show.
  • Prizes by Richmond Camera will be awarded and if your work is chosen
    it will hang in the Sara D. November Art Gallery for a month!

Juror: Scott Elmquist

Scott Elmquist is the photo editor and a photographer at Style Weekly. During his nine-year tenure Scott has won numerous awards, including Best in Show for Specialty Photography at the Virginia Press Awards in 2007. In addition, he won first and second place in Association of Alternative Weeklies contest in 2007, where Style competed against Alt Weeklies across America. In February, Scott co-judged the New Jersey Press Awards Contest.
