Yom Ha Atzmaut
Come celebrate Yom HaAtzmaut at the Weinstein JCC on Monday April 19th 5:00 pm.

Israeli food, dancing and singing with Lox & Vodka –a Jewish Israeli music band that will entertain young & old alike. Be prepared to eat, sing clap and dance the evening a way!

Yom Ha Atzmaut, Israel Independence Day, is celebrated annually on the 5th of Hebrew month of Iyar, marks the anniversary of the establishment of the state of Israel (May 14th 1948).
Yom Hazikaron, Memorial Day, is the day proceeding this celebration and is devoted to the memory of those who gave their lives for the achievements of Israel’s independence and its continued existence.

 

Schusterman Visiting Israeli
Artists in Residence
SEPTEMBER 20TH - NOVEMBER 30TH 2010
Assaf Evron, a photographer and Nelly Agassi, an artist will arrive this fall through the Schusterman Visiting Artist Program to engage our community with contemporary Israeli art & culture. The Schusterman Visiting Artist Program is one of the largest organized residency programs of Israeli artists ever to launch in the U.S. and the Weinstein JCC is one of the carefully selected communities to host these artists. Evron and Aggasi will offer classes, workshops, artist talks and gallery openings at the Weinstein JCC, University of Richmond, Hebrew Schools and other organizations in our community.

THURSDAY OCTOBER 21ST
ARTIST TALK WITH NELLY AGASSI
“CONTINUOUS DEVOTION”
Agassi received her M.F.A. from the Chelsea College of Art and Design, London and her B.F.A. in Sculpture from Central St. Martins, London. She has received a number of prestigious awards, including the Award for Artistic Encouragement from the Israel Ministry of Science, Culture and Sport (2008), and the Nathan Gottesdiener Foundation for Israeli Art Prize (2003). The exhibit is
free and open to the public.

THURSDAY OCTOBER 28TH
ARTIST TALK WITH ASSAF EVRON
“CRYSTAL HABIT”
Evron is a photographer and has exhibited his work in exhibitions both in Israel and Europe. This past spring he was honored
with a solo photography exhibition at the Haifa Museum of Art and before that at the Heder Contemporary Art Gallery.

THURSDAY NOVEMBER 18TH
“IN YOUR HOME”
GALLERY OPENING & RECEPTION
This exhibit will conclude Assaf and Nelly’s visit to our community with a display of multi media art work from people in our community who have participated in the workshops expressing on paper “In Your Home” in many mediums.
